IT’S SUICIDE!

Comic books are big business in Hollywood right now, there’s no doubt about it. And while all eyes are on THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, another flick is gaining traction.
There have been whispers in regard to SUICIDE SQUAD for a while now, but yesterday, Warner Brothers laid down the casting sheet for the upcoming David Ayer flick and it looks like a lot of the high profile names that were only rumored to be a part of the project are now officially on board.
Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, and Jared Leto as The Joker!
That’s an impressive cast and the fact that this flick centers around a crew of super villains sent out on covert missions in an effort to get pardons for their crimes, makes it all the more intriguing. It’s sort of like THE DIRTY DOZEN meets ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.
David Ayer is riding on a high right now. True, SABOTAGE left a lot to be desired but END OF WATCH and THE FURY were critical and financial successes. With SUICIDE SQUAD, it’s clear that the TRAINING DAY screenwriter wants you to take notice.
Just how edgy will this movie be? Only time will tell, but if you’ve seen Ayer’s work, you know he doesn’t shy away from the rough stuff. Therefore, I suspect this will be more WATCHMEN then THE DARK KNIGHT.
