IT’S JOHN CARPENTER MEETS STEVEN SPIELBERG IN WHAT LOOKS TO BE ANOTHER WINNER FROM DIRECTOR JEFF NICHOLS!

With titles like SHOTGUN STORIES, TAKE SHELTER, and MUD tucked firmly under his belt, director Jeff Nichols is quickly establishing himself as one of the strongest contemporary voices in American cinema.
With MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, Nichols looks to be painting on a bigger canvas but without sacrificing any of his artistic integrity. This film just screened in Berlin, and the buzz is positive. Word coming out of a recent festival screening is that MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is an exercise in pure tone and that it benefits from strong acting and a reluctance to over explain.
Warner Brothers has just released a brand new trailer and man, is it a beaut! Actually, I’d go so far as to say that this is one of the films I’m most looking forward to in 2016! Certainly, the Spielberg/Carpenter comparison seems appropriate (there are definitely shades of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and STARMAN here), but I have very little doubt that Nichols will bring his own vibe to the proceedings.
MIDNIGHT SPECIAL opens nationwide on March 18th, 2016.
