JEFF NICHOLS’ “MIDNIGHT SPECIAL” GETS BUMPED FROM NOVEMBER 2015 TO MARCH 2016

UGH! IT SUCKS THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT AN EXTRA FOUR MONTHS TO SEE THIS ONE!

Article by Adam Mast

I was really bummed that Warner Brothers didn’t give us a peek at the upcoming Jeff Nichols sci-fi flick, MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, at Comic-Con International earlier this month.  Nichols is one of the most exciting filmmakers on the scene and if you haven’t seen his independent gems TAKE SHELTER and MUD, they are both highly recommended.

MIDNIGHT SPECIAL tells the tale of a father and son on the run when it’s discovered that boy has special powers. This sci-fi drama stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Sam Shepard, Kirsten Dunst, and Adam Driver.

Reports have surfaced that, following several test screenings throughout the year, Nichols has decided to do some more work on the film. This might lead one to believe that there could be some reshoots in store for MIDNIGHT SPECIAL but before anyone assumes that this means the film isn’t working, keep in mind that FURY ROAD had additional shooting following test screenings and it has emerged as one of the best films of 2015!

Jeff Nichols is a special talent and I have very little doubt that his MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is going to be a truly special film. It looks like we’re simply going to have to wait an extra four months to see it. I’m fine with that because I have faith that the extra work Nichols is putting into this project is going to make all the difference.

MIDNIGHT SPECIAL opens in March, 2016.

Now even though there’s not an official trailer out, doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy some Midnight Special;
