First ANT-MAN Trailer

ANT-MAN’S FIRST TRAILER FOR MARVEL’S LARGE UNIVERSE

Written By John Pugh

With recent news that Paul Rudd – The ANT-MAN himself  and Adam McKay – the zealous creator of characters like Ron Burgundy and Ricky Bobby, have received full Screenplay credit by Marvel Studios. One would be inclined to see the first trailer of ANT-MAN hit us with a lively tone and superhero wonder. Maybe some strong humor and perhaps a few glimpses of large scale action sequences. Well don’t hold your breath. Unfortunately, this first look is rather lacking enthusiasm. The trailer feels more on the scale of…well, an Ant. Especially after watching Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers 2 trailers. Do we need another one of Marvel’s large scale action films? No, not really. However we do need to see more life and energy in the structure of this trailer. Something about it felt all to familiar in the Marvel Universe and yet dull.

I understand I’m complaining about a trailer and not the actual film. I can however say that after Edgar Wright’s departure from this project, that my excitement for this film has dwindled significantly. Now my first impressions of the trailer premiere ended up lower than my original expectations. Could this potentially be Marvel’s worst film? I’m not sure if it can beat out Iron Man 2. Here’s to hoping we get something better in the end result than this 1:56 bland, confusing tone, lackluster of a Marvel trailer premiere.
