IT’S TRUE. ALL OF IT! EPISODE VIII…IT’S REAL! WE HAVE THE VIDEO TO PROVE IT.

Article by Adam Mast

Now that THE FORCE AWAKENS has, for the most part, lived up to the astronomical  hype, we can look to EPISODE VIII and director Rian Johnson to continue what J.J. Abrams started. Word on the street is that Johnson’s EPISODE VIII screenplay is quite something to behold, granted that information comes from within camp Lucasfilm. It’s not like they’re about to tell us it sucks. Having said that, I’m quite the Rian Johnson fan (I dug BRICK and THE BROTHERS BLOOM and positively flipped for LOOPER), and have very little doubt that he’s going to nail this movie in a big way!

Just recently, Lucasfilm revealed that EPISODE VIII will see the return of Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill and they’ll be joined by new cast members Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern. Nothing to report in terms of plot, but that’s to be expected because this is STAR WARS, after all.

EPISODE VIII just started production so it’s safe to say that between now and December 2017, we’ll be bombarded with tons of set photos, loads of behind the scenes info, and countless amazing fan theories. If we’re really lucky, maybe we’ll even get a teaser trailer this November.

As we wait for real STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII news to start trickling in, let’s get it all started with this official production announcement. Obviously, the film just started rolling so there’s very little in the way of footage, but no matter. This 30 second spot–which benefits from the appearance of an old friend and a stirring John Williams score–gives me big time chills.

Experience it for yourself and may the Force be with you!
