THE BROTHERS KAPLAN ARE BACK…AND FUNNIER THAN EVER!

Anyone else out there a fan of Jon and Al Kaplan? If not, you should be. Recently, this dynamic sibling duo penned the schlocky B-movie ZOMBEAVERS and while that must-see flick has yet to make theatrical rounds here in the U.S. (it has played a handful of film festivals), there is–happily– plenty of Kaplan brilliance to be found online.
Aside from having a firm grasp on the pulse of pop culture, the Kaplan Brothers are extremely talented musicians and through the years, they’ve been responsible for such epic fare as ROBOCOP THE MUSICAL, SCHINDLER’S LIST THE MUSICAL, and my personal favorite, DIE HARD THE MUSICAL.
Now, they’ve brought their considerable talents to DREDD. No, not Sylvester Stallone’s much ridiculed 90’s adaptation (although Sly does make a much welcome cameo here), but rather the somewhat underappreciated Karl Urban version from 2012.
When DREDD opened, it was not a box-office hit, but it has garnered quite the cult following and recently, Urban has dropped cryptic hints that perhaps a sequel is still in the cards.
After watching this, I can only hope that a sequel does happen and if it does, for the love of all that is holy, please let Jon and Al pen the theme song.
