BIG EYES trailer

Big Eyes

TIMMY!!
Article by Adam Mast

The new Tim Burton movie BIG EYES looks decidedly non-Tim Burton. Is that a good thing? That’s anybody’s guess. However BIG EYES turns out, I love that Burton is trying something that looks to be a little outside his wheel house and that in of itself is refreshing.

BIG EYES tells the true story of painter Margaret (Amy Adams) and her tumultuous relationship with Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), a man who would ultimately take credit for her beloved paintings. The artwork at the heart of BIG EYES screams Tim Burton and maybe it was his love of the paintings that drove him to look into the intriguing story behind them.

My favorite Tim Burton movie is ED WOOD (which was also written by BIG EYES scribes Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski) and this represents Burton’s first bio pic since that underperforming gem from  1994. While BIG EYES looks to be less quirky, it should be noted that the trailer might be holding back. Regardless, Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz look terrific and again, it’s exciting to see Burton stepping outside the box. I’m really looking forward to this one. What do you all think?

Here’s a look at the trailer;
