Warner Brothers dropped a brand new trailer for Zack Snyder’s BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE today and everyone appears to be going ape shit over it. Everyone but me. I know my opinion wont be popular here, but screw it…I’ll play devil’s advocate, a little bit.
I’m simply not feeling it. I know it’s just a trailer and I really want the movie to kick ass but again, I’m having a hard time getting excited for this one.
Affleck looks terrific here and if rumors hold true and WB hires him to direct a new stand alone BATMAN flick, I could seriously get behind that. As far as BATMAN V SUPERMAN goes though, it looks a little too nutty and congested for my taste.
I dig Snyder and I fully respect and appreciate that he’s bowing at the altar of Frank Miller here, but I prefer my Superman as an idealistic do-gooder for the people, not an alien with a God complex. Again, I know this is simply a trailer and it’s unfair to take scenes out of context, but…not feeling it. I can’t get into Eisenberg either. He can be a terrific actor but it looks like he’s playing Lex as a less menacing version of the Joker sans the make-up.
I’ll be seeing BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE when it opens in March, there’s no doubt about it. I just wish I was more excited for it. Quite frankly, at this point, I’m more excited for SUICIDE SQUAD.
