10 CLOVERFIELD LANE Movie Trailer

THE SECRET BAD ROBOT FILM

Article By John Pugh

Well how about them apples. It seems J.J. Abrams really is a sneaky son of a gun. Bad Robot, Paramount Pictures, Producer J.J. Abrams, Director Dan Trachtenberg, and even co-writer Damien Chazelle were all behind this cool  secret production.  Had Matt Reeves had his name attached, that would have been the proverbial cherry on top. As it stands, this movie still looks pretty darn great!

The cast is small and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr. They look terrific! The trailer is, in of itself a “Mystery Box.” The song choice is perfect, especially effective when its tone and tempo are altered for an increasingly intense ending. I’ll be honest, that this came as a total shock and is easily the best surprise of 2016 to date. I guess I should say “good” shock and surprise given the incredibly sad news of so many entertainment legends passing away as of late.

At first, this was looking like a follow-up to Matt Reeves’ 2008 release, CLOVERFIELD. Then, I saw that J.J. Abrams himself told the good people at Collider this:

“The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”

So we know it’s at least “blood relative” to the 2008 monster movie. Man, it’s a great tease!

Also, if you were wondering what director Dan Trachtenberg’s previous work entailed, you would be surprised to see that this is his feature length directorial debut. He made an amazing short back in 2011 revolving around the popular game franchise, PORTAL. A lot of fun, so be sure to check it out;

This is very awesome news and I give everyone involved with this production major props for secretly shooting this thing right under our noses. This will indeed go down in the history books as one of the most anticipated cinematic events of 2016!

Amazingly, 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE opens in theaters and IMAX everywhere on March 11th, 2016!
