WES ANDERSON ANNOUNCES NEW FILM W/ FIRST LOOK FOOTAGE

ANDERSON’S NEW STOP-MOTION FILM IS ISLE OF DOGS

Article By John Pugh

I’m a fan of Writer/Director Wes Anderson. I’m also a fan of stop-motion. I suppose that’s why FANTASTIC MR. FOX is at the top of my list of Anderson’s filmography. Today, with the accompany of actor Edward Norton, Wes Anderson dropped the first details of his new stop-motion feature film, ISLE OF DOGS. He did this by teaming up with Crowdrise to help The Film Foundation, the “non-profit organization founded by Martin Scorsese dedicated to protecting and preserving motion picture history.” The cast is a long list of great talent and entertainers including; Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Tilda SwintonEdward NortonBill MurrayGreta GerwigLiev SchreiberFrances McDormandJeff Goldblum, Courtney B. VanceHarvey KeitelF. Murray AbrahamBob Balaban and even Yoko Ono. I do feel like we received a heavy dose of dogs with the recent animated film THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS however we know this should have an entirely different look and feel.

The synopsis at this time is just a stop-motion film about dogs. I’m sure these dogs will be quite clever. With Anderson’s quirky humor and the colorful cast we are bound to something special. I imagine the film will be PG and family friendly. I enjoy seeing this side of Anderson and I feel he does it well.

Heading back over to the reason this kind of announcement was made. You can learn more about The Film Foundation and learn all that they do to preserve film and learn more about how to donate to the cause. It sounds like a worthy cause and with Scorsese behind the foundation I believe there’s great integrity involved.

ISLE OF DOGS is set for release in 2018 and will be Mr. Anderson’s ninth feature film and second stop-motion.
