INDEPENDENT EXORCISM THRILLER “…IN THE DARK” EMBARKS ON FESTIVAL RUN

In the Dark
DAVID SPALTRO TAKES HIS INDIE EXORCISM THRILLER ON THE ROAD!

Article by Adam Mast

As filmgoers, we all understand that movies come in all shapes and sizes and for every massive Hollywood produced movie and buzzed about independent feature is a smaller picture hoping that an audience will find it.  While this holds true for films, the same applies to their  makers. For every A-list director is a lesser known filmmaker doing everything they can to get their work out there.

One such filmmaker is David Spaltro. This New Jersey native and avid horror fan has been making films for over a decade (THINGS I DON’T UNDERSTAND, …AROUND) and his latest offering is an exorcism thriller/drama called …IN THE DARK.

…IN THE DARK is about to embark on a festival run and has already earned the attention of several popular online outlets including  Aint-It-Cool-News and Twitch. This is a crafty, low-budget psychological mystery with a clear supernatural bent but for all its thrifty technical attributes and demonic thrills, the real reason to watch it is for Grace Folsom’s  effective performance as an innocent consumed by evil.

In the Dark 2

Is IN THE DARK an epic of THE EXORCIST proportions? No, but it doesn’t aspire to be.  This is a passionately crafted, well intentioned low budget indie made by a cast and crew with a clear fondness for a very popular subgenre.

As someone with his own dreams and aspirations of becoming a professional storyteller, and as someone who has always encouraged  filmmaking by way of numerous hometown filmmaking challenges through the years, I’m forever inspired by storytellers like David Spaltro. Storytellers who rise to the challenge and see their projects through, no matter what crazy curveballs might be thrown their way.

As previously stated, …IN THE DARK is about to hit the festival circuit. You can read all about Spaltro’s latest feature and see if it’s playing at a film festival in your neck of the woods by CLICKING HERE.
