CINEMACON 2017 VLOG: PARAMOUNT OFFERS UP A LOOK AT “TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT,” “BAYWATCH,” AND MORE!

CinemaCon is an annual convention held by the National Association of Theater Owners. Formally ShoWest, CinemaCon takes place at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV. Over the course of 4 days, the convention, which attracts exhibitors from all around the globe, showcases the latest and greatest in movie theater hardware (projectors, screens, sound equipment, seats, etc.) and snack bar goodness (Redvines, popcorn, beverages, etc.) Of course we at CinemaCon come for the epic studio presentations and what better place for a major studio to unveil their breathtaking sizzle reels then Caesars’ legendary Colosseum. Paramount Pictures dropped a bunch of footage from their upcoming 2017 slate and Sheldon and I put together a little video blog to fill you in on what we saw. Before checking out our clip though, it should be noted that one film we failed to mention is George Clooney‘s latest directorial effort, SUBURBICON. Clooney was on hand along with stars Matt Damon and Julianne Moore to talk a little bit about the movie. It was a brief but colorful introduction. One that found Clooney and Moore carrying the Jimmy Kimmel torch by way of taking spirited pot shots at a slightly aloof Damon. Oh, that Matt Damon. Such a good sport. As for SUBURBICON, it looks incredibly entertaining. It’s the darkly funny tale of a home invasion gone awry in quiet family town. Oscar Isaac and Josh Brolin also star. By the tone of the footage, Clooney is going for a Coen Brothers vibe and that should come as absolutely no surprise as the script was written by Joel and Ethan Coen. SUBURBICON opens this November.
Aside from that, Paramount showcased bigger fare like TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT and BAYWATCH as well as smaller prestige pictures like DOWNSIZING from SIDEWAYS director Alexander Payne.
