A SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON PREVIEW FROM AN EAGER FIRST-TIMER!

COMIC-CON FIRST-TIMER DAN BRINGHURST ON HIS UPCOMING SAN DIEGO ADVENTURE!

Article by Dan Bringhurst

I’ve been lucky enough to have been invited to San Diego Comic-Con for my very first time, and I am super excited for so many things. I’m excited to be amongst like-minded fans, career-driven writers, and of course all the artists who bring our favorite books, films, scripts, and comics to life.

So, as this is my first adventure at Comic-Con, I thought I’d summarize all the events I’m most excited to bear witness to. It begins with a sneak peek at “Stranger Things” season 2. Even if the show were nothing more than a throwback to early Spielbergian titles, the score could stand on its own two feet and breathe life into anything that it set itself upon. But as it were, the show is magic, and the synthesizers that guide us from one episode to the next, make this one of my favorite shows on Netflix!

Next on my list is a panel hosted by the creators of “Rick and Morty.” I’ll be the first to admit I’m still pretty new to this series, but it’s increasingly clear that this show is the epitome of what’s awesome with modern animation, and all from the incubator that is Adult Swim.

Also on my docket is a “Cards Against Humanity” panel. It’s been rumored that guests will be given cards to write on, as a means to submit ideas, and the best submission will be incorporated into the actual game. Cool, right?!

And these are the same guys who collect donations to buy their staff members dildos, and previously, to dig a hole that goes down as deep as the incoming money would allow.

It should be noted that my Comic-Con must attend presentation list is less about celebrities and more to do with the properties I’m already in love with. For instance, I’m extremely excited to see a special offsite screening of PRINCESS MONONOKE in honor of this animated gem’s 20th anniversary.

Speaking of screenings…We’ll also be getting an early look at the much-anticipated ATOMIC BLONDE which I’m really itching to see! Subsequently, ATOMIC BLONDE resident ass-kicker Charlize Theron will be part of the Con’s “Women Who Kick Ass” panel which I’m also greatly looking forward to.

So much more to see throughout the Con; There will  be panels on GHOSTBUSTERS 101, “Goosebumps” Creator R.L. Stine, a mysterious new series from fan favorite Kevin Smith, “Rocko’s Modern Life,”  HBO’s “Westworld,” and a commentary on the past and future of legendary Disneyland Theme Park Attractions.

All in all, I am extremely excited to attend this convention, and without any previous experience to go on, I’m prepared for anything and everything that might happen! In the end, I just want to see some cool stuff with cool friends, and I want to experience it all in the beautiful setting that is San Diego. Drink it in, it always goes down smooth.
