I was lucky enough to see the new horror comedy COOTIES at the Sundance Film Festival way back in January 2014. In the time since, there have been re-shoots in an effort to beef up certain aspects of what is quite the entertaining movie.

In COOTIES, a middle school teaching staff join forces in an effort to survive the night when their school is over taken by prepubescent  students  afflicted with a deadly virus.

Walking that fine line between horror and comedy can be no easy task but the folks behind this wildly entertaining September release were clearly up to the challenge.

First up, we spoke with directors Jonathan Millot and Cary Murnion. These new kids on the directing block were very open when discussing the excitement that came with jumping on board their very first feature film. They also filled us in on their much buzzed about short film BOOB and spoke energetically of their love for the horror genre. Side note; Beware of a couple of COOTIES plot spoilers in this particular interview.

Secondly, we spoke with cast members Elijah Wood, Allison Pill, and Leigh Whannell (who also scripted the film.) While the majority of this chat was geared towards COOTIES, we did talk to Wood a bit about his championing of independent horror through his  label SpectreVision and we also got Whannell to dish on his upcoming directorial debut, INSIDIOUS 3.

COOTIES opens in the U.S. on September 18th, 2015. In the meantime, enjoy these video blogs.
